From the Library

Reserved the books a week back and collected them last Thursday. As I wanted to start reading on Friday, I took them along to the office, but forgot bring home for the weekend. ;<

I must remember to bring them home today.

  1. Hi Rossi,

Thanks for your encouragement to buddy. He has gain some weight and is not that light anymore. Will cross my finger for his next review in Mar for his red blood count and tick fever. I have also converted him to BARF since 2/2/11. I gave him mainly beef, lamb and beef liver - all raw, only vegetable lightly steam as I do not have a blender and fish also steam. My dachshund ger is also on BARF and she is eating Dr B patties since July'10 and she is doing very well. I gave them meaty raw bone twice weekly. Thanks for the encouragement. I am also reading Dr Pitcains book currently after finish, I will get some more books to read.

  3. Hi there,

Both books are worth a read. The Tom lonsdale one is straightforward & easy to read with cute drawings within the pages. Its all about the raw diet & its benefits, also addresses some of the concerns of owners on raw feeding.

The other one is a hoslitic approach to pet care. It has good information on nutrition in various types of foods and alternative remedies.

  4. Hi there. I have the holistic health book too. Was given as a x'mas gift by a concern friend who knew I had been crying buckets of tears for years over my darling westie's skin problem. I had blindly followed vets until after a year of no improvement, I stopped going to vets. Even dr ly could not cure him, no improvement at all.
How would you compare home cooked with raw? Though he is taking dr b patties now, he loves home cooked food. Dilemma whether should switched or not.....
Btw, you might want to get the books from book depository.com the price there is really reasonable as compared to local and online shops.

  5. Hi, thanks for the recommendation. :)

I have read about your Jerry. You have been a great mummy, doing all you can for him.

Homecooked versus Raw. If you ask me, I would say Raw, cos Raw really benefitted Rossi alot. She didnt do so well on HCF. She didnt do well on Dr. B patties too. But she does very well on DIY raw.

I'm sure you have read up about raw too, on its benefits etc. But I must say again, every dog is different. You have to decide what suits Jerry better, cos you know him best, ya.

As for vets, I would say, their words are not sacred messages. They are humans just like us. With regards to advices given, we have to discern for ourselves what's logical and what's not.
